Work in Millstadt, IL in a climate controlled facility.

SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Assistant works closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure the manufacturing facility is clean and in good operating condition. The Maintenance Assists is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the building, performs general maintenance and repair of the building(s) and grounds, machinery, and production equipment. The maintenance Assistant will perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to: driving company vehicles, using the scissor lift to run cable and piping, installing electrical reels and air-line drops, grease fittings, and light maintenance on forklifts such as fill batteries.

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:30a.m. to 4:00p.m. + flexible to job demands

Type: Hourly – Non–Exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform routine building maintenance duties, including painting, minor repairs, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds upkeep such as plowing and/or salting the parking lot.
  • Assist with diagnosing and troubleshoot issues, perform routine PM’s on equipment, and assists the Manager with repairs to production equipment.
  • Drive company vehicles to transport inventory to warehouse and/or run errands for supplies.
  • Clean and help maintain work zones within the building, includes applying paint or tape stripping the work zones.
  • Complete administrative duties, such as filling out forms and reporting maintenance statuses to the Manager.
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations
  • Assist with diagnosing and troubleshoot issues

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office environment and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines plus tablets and stopwatches in the manufacturing facility.

PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move heavy equipment, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals and documents
  • Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently plus follow instructions from the Manager.
  • May be required to work outside of normal work hours. May be required to work inside and outside of buildings at various temperatures.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED. Prefer 2+ years of experience.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems (including relevant equipment and tools) is a plus
